Course Description:
Internal Family Systems gives you a clear, practical way to work with the different “parts” your clients bring into the room. Instead of trying to eliminate symptoms, IFS helps you see what those experiences are doing and why they’re there in the first place. Clients learn to relate differently to their thoughts, emotions, and internal conflicts—often with less struggle and more clarity. Whether you’re brand new to parts work or have some exposure already, this training is designed to help you start using it in real sessions.
You’ll learn how to apply IFS with clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. The focus is on what to actually do in session. You’ll practice identifying parts, tracking shifts in real time, and working with protective responses without pushing them away or trying to override them. The goal isn’t to follow a script—it’s to recognize what you’re seeing and respond in a way that moves the work forward.
This is an experiential training—you won’t just learn IFS, you’ll practice it. Through demonstrations, structured exercises, and small-group work, you’ll build skills you can use right away. You’ll learn how to map a client’s system, work with protectors, and help clients access more Self-energy in a way that feels natural and doable. There will also be opportunities to reflect on your own internal system, which tends to make the clinical work click much faster.
Led by an IFS expert and approved supervisor, the training stays focused on real clinical use. You’ll see how the model actually unfolds in session, not just how it’s described in theory. By the end, you’ll have a solid foundation in parts work and a clearer sense of how to bring it into your existing approach without overcomplicating your sessions.
