EMDR Development Center In-Person EMDR Basic Training
EMDR therapy is a specialized approach that requires supervised training for full therapeutic effectiveness and client safety. The training consists of lectures, live, and video demonstrations, and supervised practice. Julie Miller, MC, LPC, LIAC, is an EMDRIA-approved basic and advanced trainer, and she is authorized to use the materials from the EMDR Institute, the original organization established by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1990. The training program adheres to the ethical standards of APA, social work, nursing, and mental health boards. The curriculum is regularly updated and expanded to reflect current research and to meet the current needs of clinicians. This experiential training will familiarize participants with a broad spectrum of EMDR therapy applications sufficient for comfortable and efficient use with a wide range of patients and situations. Special attention will be given to the therapeutic needs of clients. The EMDR Development Center welcomes trainees and consultees from all cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual and gender orientations. This is a safe and inclusive learning environment for all trainees and consultees, including Black People, People of Color, Indigenous People, and LGBTQ People. Issues of cultural competence and culturally based trauma during are addressed at every phase of this professional training. This training is held online.
