This 2-day, highly participatory, practicum-based workshop (live in-person) focuses on treating compassion fatigue in your patients while getting the benefit of doing your own personal and professional work on this issue.
Presenter Bios:
Daniel Mitchell, PsyD, is a psychologist practicing in a busy rural community medical center. He is an experienced trainer and clinician and brings a passion for supporting clinicians “in the trenches” of community mental healthcare by bringing effective techniques that have made his job more rewarding and improved outcomes for his patients. Dan is a Vermont State Licensed Psychologist – #048- 0058348
Rose Wall, LPC is a private practice trauma therapist, consultant and trainer who resides in Northern Arizona. She has over 20 years of experience of working in community mental health and public health settings. She has experience working with front line professionals, supporting them with successfully navigating burn-out, and remaining passionate in their roles. She brings both her personal experience, and expertise in navigating trauma to create engaging and meaningful trainings. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona, LPC-19867.

Learning Objectives:
• Distinguish the difference between secondary trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout.
• Describe the difference between hyperarousal and hypoarousal and will leave training with practical exercises to move back to a window of tolerance when dysregulated.
• Describe strategies for implementing healthy, compassionate, professional boundaries.
• Describe how to create and implement an actionable treatment plan to create a healthy work/life balance and stay resilient.
• Identify and enhance positive traits and experiences.
• Demonstrate effective desensitization of negative professional and personal experiences using the flash technique.
• Describe strategies for addressing maladaptive core self-referencing beliefs.
• Demonstrate future rehearsal as an intervention for handling trigger experiences.
