EMDR G-TEP was developed to harness the power of the individual Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) for groups while addressing the challenges faced for a group form of EMDR.??Conceptualized as Guided Self-Help, it enables participants to work on the same or different traumas simultaneously, in a group framework, while allowing each person to process their own unique experience.??It is an evidence-based?protocol for treating Traumatic Episodes that can be applied for treating recent traumatic experiences as well as ongoing traumatic stress following adverse life-changing experiences. Primarily designed for groups, it can also be utilized for individuals, couples or families. The G-TEP worksheet provides a resource rich and structured environment for clients and a standardized manual for therapists. This program includes lecture, video illustrations, guided and supervised practice in small groups where participants are offered an opportunity to deliver the scripted protocol and work experientially on their own material.
This training includes a version of EMDR G-TEP that makes use of Flash treatment. This option known as Flash-TEP provides a gentler and safer adaptation for traumas when readiness for standard G-TEP may be premature or questioned. It provides a Low Activation intervention alternative. The worksheet enables concrete representations of the contained disturbance and the Positive Engaging Focus, expressed in writing or drawing, making it culture-friendly and less reliant on imagination. Both EMDR G-TEP & Flash Technique have substantial evidence base from numerous studies and peer reviewed publications.
