EMDR is an evidenced based treatment protocol as listed by SAMSHA. EMDR treatment is specific to trauma-related events and is a clinical intervention for trauma resolution. In this course, EMDR trained clinicians will receive a refresher on the 8- phase protocol including expanded versions of Phases 1 and 2, in addition to application for child/adolescent specific populations for all 8 phases. This workshop also seeks to provide a comprehensive review of the EMDR standard protocol, conceptualization of target order, and its variations. Via discussion, handouts, videos and practicum, we will focus on presenting EMDR for strengthening participant’s use of the standard protocol and enhancing the protocol with use of cognitive interweaves.
Presenter Bios:
Lisa Prefontaine, LMHC, is an EMDRIA certified therapist, consultant, and trainer. She currently owns her own private therapy and consulting practice, seeing adolescent and adult clients as well as teaching, consulting, and training on various topics. Lisa has extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT Intensively trained), Internal Family Systems (IFS Level 2), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Level 1), Brainspotting (BSP Level 1), Perinatal Therapy, and Complex Trauma and Dissociation. Lisa was clinical director of a large behavioral health agency, overseeing 12 outpatient mental health programs and developing onboarding and clinical trainings for staff.
Brooke Lewis, LCSW, is a co-founder of Pittsburgh Center for Integrative Therapy, a group private practice focused on an integrative approach to trauma treatment, specializing in Integrative EMDR Intensive Therapy and Retreats. Brooke is an EMDRIA approved trainer andnconsultant providing both basic and advanced topic trainings combining her knowledge of complex trauma, attachment, and dissociation. Brooke has extensive experiences working with survivors of domestic violence through the creation of a grantfunded program providing therapy within a domestic violence agency. She has also worked notably with both substance and behavioral addictions, and grief and loss.
