EMDR Professional Training: Introduction to EMDR Therapy and Dissociative Disorders
credit limit =
total earned credit = +
Recorded Webinar Dissociation is a normal human process. We all dissociate. Some individuals are so severely and chronically traumatized that, in order to survive, they split their awareness into at least two levels or streams of consciousness—one level being the participant in the abuse drama and the other level being an observer watching as if the abuse was happening to someone else. This defense mechanism, which allows severely abused individuals to survive, can become an obstacle in the reprocessing of their traumatic memories.
This program, designed as a beginning level course for EMDR practitioners who have completed EMDR Basic Training, discusses the role of dissociation in everyday life as well as the pathological use of dissociation due to traumatic events.
Presenter Bio:
Curtis Rouanzoin, Ph.D., Co-President of EMDR Professional Training, was trained by Francine Shapiro in EMDR from 1991 to 1992. He worked with the EMDR Institute as a Facilitator (1992) and then Senior Trainer until 2017. Throughout the years, he has worked to develop the highest quality EMDR Basic Trainings as well as Advanced Trainings in Complex PTSD and Dissociation.
Dr. Rouanzoin is Certified, an Approved Consultant, and an Approved Instructor in EMDR Therapy. He has trained mental health practitioners in EMDR Therapy both nationally and internationally. Internationally, Dr. Rouanzoin traveled with Dr. Shapiro to Columbia on a Congress Against Violence and to pave the way for future EMDR trainings. He also traveled to Japan with Dr. Andrew Leeds to train the first groups of clinicians there. While at Hope International University, where he taught for 22 years and developed the Marriage and Family Therapy Program, he created the first graduate-level university course in EMDR (1995). Timeline: Anytime, Online
Learning Objectives:
