Course Description:
This course is based on a publication of BioMed Central about pediatric self-reports of health-related quality of life (HRQOL). It provides an overview of this topic by discussing the findings a research article entitled “How young can children validly and reliably self-report their health-related quality of life?”. This course addresses the concept of health-related quality of life, and determines the reliability and validity of parent proxy-reports and pediatric self-reports. This course also addresses the relationship between perceptions of HRQOL and healthcare quality. This course serves as an excellent resource for mental health professionals who would like to build or refresh their knowledge about pediatric HRQOL self-reports. This information may also be generalizable to other types of self reports by children.
Psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists can benefit from this course. This course may also be helpful for other practitioners, such as midwives and dieticians and nutritionists who may work with children in health care settings. This course is appropriate for intermediate and advanced level practitioners who wish to learn more about pediatric HRQOL self-reports and who wish to develop their clinical skills in this area.
