Course Description: This course provides a comprehensive overview of basic first aid principles and emergency response techniques for use in workplace and community settings. Participants will explore the essential components of a well-stocked first-aid kit and guidelines for its proper maintenance. The course covers recognition and initial response to a broad range of medical emergencies including cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis, burns, stroke, spinal injuries, heart attack, and more. Drawing on evidence-based guidelines from the American Heart Association, Mayo Clinic, and the American Red Cross, learners will gain practical knowledge of CPR techniques, the CAB sequence, AED use, and specific first-aid protocols for chemical, electrical, and thermal burns, as well as life-threatening allergic reactions.

This course on health and safety practices and first aid is designed for social workers, professional counselors, psychologists, nurses, and substance abuse counselors, who do clinical work. This course is appropriate for training staff.
