Course Description:
This course is an overview of service delivery methods for Adults in Mental Health. The article reviews the key areas of mental health service delivery most widely utilized. Written by experts in the field, the article covers professional services as well as self-help and advocacy programs. Finally, it identifies trends and empirical evidence regarding these delivery methods. This allows the practitioner to identify the best service delivery methods for their clients. This course is based on a portion of chapter four of a publication by the Surgeon General’s office entitled; Mental Health: A report by the Surgeon General. The report is also on the SAMSHA website. This publication provides excellent information for the mental health professional, especially for those clinicians who work with adults and provides the practitioner with a great deal of much needed information. The course is targeted for beginning and intermediate practitioners.
Psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, and marriage and family therapists can benefit from this course on service delivery for adults. This course may also be helpful for dieticians and nutritionists who work with psychiatric populations. This course is appropriate for beginning, intermediate and advanced level practitioners who wish to develop additional knowledge in the area of service delivery and adults.
