Course Description: This one-credit-hour continuing education course is designed for licensed psychologists practicing in Florida who are required to complete coursework in Florida laws and rules as part of their licensure renewal. The course provides a comprehensive review of the regulatory framework governing psychological practice in Florida, with particular emphasis on legislative and administrative rule changes enacted between 2020 and 2026.

Psychologists licensed in Florida are required to take 3 hours of Florida laws and ethics. This course is designed for psychologists who have taken ethics courses and need content in the Florida laws and rules for license renewal.

Participants will examine the structure and authority of Chapter 490, Florida Statutes (the Psychological Services Act), and Chapter 456, Florida Statutes, which establishes general disciplinary authority for all Department of Health-regulated healthcare professionals. The course reviews the Florida Board of Psychology’s disciplinary matrix under Rule 64B19-17.002, Florida Administrative Code, and presents annotated case examples illustrating common violations and their associated sanctions.

This course is appropriate for intermediate, and advanced-level practitioners who wish to learn more about the laws and rules that govern the practice of psychology in Florida.  boundary issues and ethics.
