This course is specifically designed to meet the licensure renewal requirements for aspiring and provisional therapists in the state of Florida who wish to be licensed under Fl S. Chapter 491. The class of therapists who should take this course are hoping to become Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Mental Health Counselors and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists; LCSW’s, LMHC’s and LMFT’s in the state of Florida.

The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling mandates that every applicant for licensure completes 8 hours of continuing education in the area of law and rules in order to obtain their license.

This course will be conducted in two parts. The first part is an online study and review course. The Florida Laws and Rules are provided for review. A Powerpoint presentation is also included that highlight’s the most important points. Upon passing a quiz, users attend an interactive session via teleconference for open iscussion and questions and answers. The interactive session is informative and dynamic. Topics include how to complete the Baker Act form; “Certficate for Involuntary Examination”, how to use the Marchman act to involuntarily admit a person into substance abuse treatment, and the essentials needed for private practice. Ohio Professionals – This course is NOT accepted for license renewal by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapy board
