The Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) is part of a comprehensive approach to EEI. This workshop incorporates and extends existing protocols within a new conceptual framework, together with additional measures for containment and safety. Checking for sub-clinical sticking points which can obstruct Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) and don’t necessarily show up on the DSM radar, the R-TEP may reduce sensitization and accumulation of trauma memories.
The R-TEP will be taught with video case illustrations, live demonstration and a practicum. Participants will be invited to share simple basic pilot data after using R-TEP with clients.EMDR HAP is sponsoring this workshop to serve EMDRIA regional councils, HAP Trauma Recovery Networks and all EMDR clinicians who have a solid understanding of standard EMDR protocol. A one-day presentation of the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol, developed by Elan Shapiro and Brurit Laub. This workshop teaches how to apply EMDR for early intervention in emergent trauma situations. Appropriate for participants who have completed both levels of Basic EMDR training and are advanced level practitioners.

• Describe how to apply EMDR for early intervention in emergent trauma situations.
• Recognize the key features, and concepts of the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP).
• Define subclinical sticking points that may obstruct Adaptive Information Processing.
• Identify when Early EMDR Intervention is appropriate.
• Apply Early EMDR clinical skills with additional measures for containment and safety.
