When Horses Hear the Unspeakable: A Guide to Equine-Assisted Therapy is an 9-hour web based course designed for equine specialists and equine assisted/facilitated therapists who are looking to expand their knowledge of how to work more confidently with trauma survivors both in and out of the arena.

Each webinar is three hours and will cover the following material:

Webinar One:  The Biology of Trauma

Webinar Two:  An Introduction to The Theory & Practical Application of Working with Dissociation

Webinar Three:  Trauma Focused Ethics and Best Practices for Equine Assisted Professionals:

This program is created by Sarah Jenkins, MC, LPC, CPsychol. I am the founder of EquiLateral the Equine-Assisted EMDR protocol, an EMDR therapist and consultant, equine-assisted therapist, author, international speaker, and have been working with trauma for over 13 years. My specialty is working with complex trauma and dissociation. What’s important is that I have created this program because I have found it to be necessary that equine-professionals and equine-therapists feel more comfortable in working with trauma survivors, regardless of what approach to equine-assisted/facilitated therapy that we utilize. It has come about because in the courses and consultations on complex trauma and dissociation that I provide, folks have been searching for this kind of support.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Attendees will be able to define a three-phased approach to trauma treatment.
2.  Attendees will be able to define Complex PTSD.
3.  Attendees will be able to define Developmental Trauma
4.  Attendees will be able to define Window of Tolerance.
5.  Attendees will be able to identify the Structural Dissociation Theory.
6.  Attendees will be able to identify two actions systems as defined by Structural Dissociation Theory.
7.  Attendees will be able to define Dual-Attention.
8.  Attendees will be able to define a minimum of four considerations when working with trauma survivors, both in and out of the arena.
