This section of the workshop will address goals and expectations when treating adolescents and how to measure success.  Topics will include how to perform a full assessment, the decision tree and treatment options/continuum of care.  It will stress the importance of family involvement and the value of collaboration with other providers to form an effective treatment plan


Recovery Skills vs Parenting Skills

This section of the workshop will focus on the addiction and lifestyle issues that young adults face and the coping, living and social skill that they need to develop to live productive lives. As well as, looking at a parent’s role in setting limits and boundaries.


The trainings are appropriate for mental health and allied  professionals who work with adults, children, adolescents, and their families. This trainings are appropriate for professionals of all levels of expertise: introductory, intermediate, advance.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to apply motivational techniques for adolescents and create more effective outcomes
  • Participants will be able to describe the two issues, addiction and lifestyle
  • Participants will be able to identify how diverse models of professional treatment and community based support can suggest strategies to restore volitional capacity and functionality for people in recovery from substance abuse disorders
