Course Description:
This course is based upon a journal article from the Annals of Verbal Behavior, which is available on the US National Library of Medicine website as an open access article at the following link: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3139552/pdf/anvb-27-01-191.pdf

Observational learning is a significant intervention technique in both psychology and behavioral science. The journal article that is the basis for this course begins with a review of significant research in observational learning and then covers the most common behavior analytic conceptualizations of this research. An outline of the interbehavioral perspective is then provided, which is a good primer for therapists and counselors who are unfamiliar with this technique. Implications for the application of the interbehavioral perspective are then reviewed.

This article includes a review of clinical research, and if you do not like reading research reviews, you may not like the course material. However, empirically effective treatments are an important way to improve your clinical practice and the strategies and interventions described in this study are important considerations for professional counselors.

This clinical ce course is useful for psychologists, social workers and professional counselors who work with clients and need clinical CEs. This course is appropriate for intermediate and advanced level practitioners who wish to develop their clinical skills in intervehavioral approach and observational learning, especially those clinicians who work with families or family systems.

Authors: Fryling, Johnston, and Hayes
